Welcome back, we hope you all enjoyed Christmas and New Year, thank you for all our lovely cards and gifts for Christmas it really is appreciated.

For our topic this half term we will be focusing on winter and the cold weather, we have already investigated how to make ice and what’s happens when it melts, talked about what clothes to wear in the winter and made snowmen in our craft area which led to lots of talks about children wanting the snow to come so they can go sledging! We shall also be learning about China and celebrating Chinese new year ‘the year of the rooster’, we shall be trying out Chinese food at snack time, making a dragon with junk modelling and having a go at some Chinese writing.

As the weather is threatening to get colder still could we ask parents to bring in wellies, hats, gloves and scarf’s for the children to keep here or bring in daily, we go out whatever the weather and there are many puddles to jump in around the track at the back of preschool

We would like to inform you of forthcoming events

Dear Parents and Carers

The first half term is completed and we have had a fantastic start. The children have settled back in really well, quickly getting back into our routines and enjoying fun activities implemented by staff.

We held an AGM for our pre-school committee on Tuesday 4th October. We have said goodbye to Angela Hewitt, Emily Clark, Karen Walton, Louise Smith and Sarah Woodhouse, thank you for all your wonderful support over the years. We would like to sincerely thank the following members of our committee whose hard work is a constant support to the Pre-School: Sarah Hatherley continues in her role as Chair, Dave Clark continues as treasurer and Vicky Adkins continues as secretary.

Trish has decided that she will not be returning to Pre-school, we are very sad to see her go as she has been a fantastic member of staff over the years; loved by staff, parents and children. She continues to support her daughter Grace through her Leukaemia treatment and we are pleased to report that Grace is progressing well.

Hayley will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Pre-schools SEN (special educational needs) policy. As SENCO Hayley will co-ordinate additional support for pupils with SEN and liaise with parents, teachers and other professionals who are involved with the children.

We would like to welcome you back to Pre-School after a long summer break. We hope you and your families all had a lovely break and are as ready as we are to settle back in to Pre-School again. We would like to welcome our new children and their families. There have been a few staff changes at Preschool, Chelsea joins us full time as an apprentice studying for her NVQ3, Sharene will be working on a Monday and is hoping to study for her NVQ3 and Sadie will be volunteering on a Wednesday. Trish will remain absent from preschool as she continues to care for her daughter who is progressing well will her treatment.

This half term at Pre-School we are focusing our planning on getting to know each other and all about me. Our aim for this is to help children settle into Pre-school, as well as allowing them to communicate about their interests and family. We would be very grateful if your child could bring in some family photos to help them when communicating about their own families, pets and interests. And if possible to keep the photos in your child’s personal learning journey.

We are also talking about Harvest this term and the signs of autumn. Long Clawson Primary School will be celebrating Harvest at St Remigius Church on Friday 30th of September at 10am, we shall be taking some of the children along and permission slips will be out nearer the time. Please donate produce so we can take this along with us on behalf of preschool.

Just a quick reminder if parents could name their child’s bags, lunch boxes and water bottles then that would be a fantastic help to us. Could we also ask that parents and children leave the children’s coats on the mobile pegs in the morning so we are able to quickly bring them through for the children during the day?

There will be a few important forms coming out to keep our details updated and correct please return these by the end of next week.

As you hopefully know Pre School is overseen by a committee made up of Pre School parents, we need new people to come forward and join the committee to ensure your Pre School continues to run effectively. There will be an AGM in the small room of the village hall on Tuesday the 4th of October at 7.30pm.

If anyone would like any information or to come and speak about the role, then please do not hesitate to approach the staff at Pre-school.

Next year’s Pre-school term dates are on the parents information board in the reception, please note that after the Christmas break Pre School will start back on Monday 9th of January 2017, which is later than school that starts back on Wednesday 4th of January.

We look forward to a very busy few weeks.

Thank you, Long Clawson Pre School Staff.

She will also be leaving ‘Nosey Rosie’ with us who will spend time at Pre School, she will be going back and forwards with a diary to school when the children make their visits. We have alsoinvited the reception teachers from the other schools that our children will be attending to visit their new children.

We would like to inform you of forthcoming events

If your child is not a school leaver but usually attends on a Thursday afternoon then they will also be able to join in with the party.

The children are really enjoying the warmer weather, especially the increased water play. They are all getting very wet though and need dry clothes to change into! Please provide some dry clothing for your child and a sunhat. We are running out of spare clothing at Pre-School please return any you have borrowed or if you have any unwanted clothes to donate that would be great. Can we also remind parents to apply sun cream to your children before Pre School starts, we can then ‘top’ this up for your child after lunch.

If your child is staying with us and you would like to increase their hours for September then please fill in an amendment to current session’s form, which is attached and return to Julia before the end of term. All bills need to be paid and up to date by the end of this term to guarantee your child’s place in September. The committee reviews fees annually for the start of the new academic year, this year fees will increase from £4 an hour to £4.20 per hour and this change will take effect from the new autumn term.

As you hopefully know Pre School is overseen by a committee made up of Pre School parents, we need new people to come forward and join the committee to ensure your Pre School continues to run effectively. It would be lovely to have some new parents join us in September.

Pre-school will finish on Friday 9th July for those of you who do not wish to pay for the extra week. Those that have agreed to pay for the last week will be billed separately and finish on the Friday 15th of July. Pre-school will recommence on Wednesday 31st of August 2016. We look forward to a very busy few weeks
